The Verdict
The lightest choice, if storage space is tight
The TROBOLO WandaGO and WandaGO Lite are compact composting toilets specially developed for mobile use, for example in campers, vans, motorhomes, or during outdoor activities.
The TROBOLO WandaGO and WandaGO Lite are compact composting toilets specially developed for mobile use, for example in campers, vans, motorhomes, or during outdoor activities. Both models have a very similar format: the WandaGO measures 31.4 cm (12.4 in) in height, 38.2 cm (15.0 in) in depth, and 34.1 cm (13.4 in) in width in its transport box. The WandaGO Lite is only slightly lower at 30.1 x 38.2 x 34.1 cm (11.9 x 15.0 x 13.4 in), but is even lighter.
A special feature of the WandaGO is its stacking function, which allows a variable seat height between 30.6 cm (12.0 in) and 43.6 cm (17.2 in). In comparison, the Lite model only offers a fixed seat height of 29.3 cm (11.5 in). Both variants are therefore also suitable for smaller vehicles or cramped spaces. The WandaGO weighs only 4.2 kg (9.3 lb), while the WandaGO Lite weighs just 3.6 kg (7.9 lb). The maximum load capacity is stated as 150 kg (330.7 lb) for both.
Assembly
The TROBOLO WandaGO is delivered ready to use, so assembly in the classic sense is not necessary. As mentioned, the special feature is the clever stacking function: the toilet is taken out of its transport box and placed on top of it. This results in a raised seating position of 43.6 cm (17.2 in). Alternatively, the toilet can also be used directly inside the box, which of course leads to a lower seat height of 30.6 cm (12.0 in).
We initially had concerns about whether this construction would be stable enough in the raised position, but during testing we found that the WandaGO offers secure footing even when stacked. Switching between the two heights is straightforward and functionally well solved.
The WandaGO Lite comes without the stacking function and is likewise delivered ready to use immediately. The fixed, lower seat height is particularly practical in very compact vehicles or tents and requires no adjustment or modification whatsoever. Sitting this low did not feel entirely comfortable to us, but since the toilet is designed for occasional mobile use, we could accept it. We also liked that no assembly work is required for the Lite model either, which makes mobile use particularly straightforward and means the toilet can be put to use immediately.
Material and workmanship
The housing of both models is made of robust, weatherproof polypropylene. In testing, the material felt sturdy and well made. We were also able to confirm its weather resistance: even in rain, the housing remained undamaged. The light splashes caused by mud after rain or by damp soil could be easily wiped off with a damp cloth. In principle, we would not recommend permanent outdoor storage, but it's reassuring to know that an occasional rain shower won't harm the material.
Handling of the containers is also convincing: the toilet seat with integrated urine diverter can easily be lifted and clicked into the lid. This allows the collection containers to be removed comfortably and hygienically. The internal structure of the WandaGO Lite is also nearly identical, including a securely clicking lid, urine diverter, and removable containers.
Comfort
What particularly and positively surprised us about the TROBOLO WandaGO was that, despite its compact dimensions, the composting toilet offers a surprisingly high level of comfort. In our view, the adjustable seat height is one of its most well-thought-out features. Especially when on the move, where improvisation is often required and comfortable sitting is desired, the stacking function proves to be a clear advantage.
The WandaGO Lite is not height-adjustable, but won us over with its compactness and low weight. Especially in limited spaces, such as small vans or tents, the Lite model is pleasantly easy to handle. And thanks to its sturdy construction, people up to 150 kg (330.7 lb) can sit comfortably on either variant.
Another comfort plus for both models is the external fill-level indicator on the urine container. This means the canister doesn't need to be unscrewed and opened every time to check the fill level. Instead, we could simply, cleanly, and hygienically read the fill level from the outside. This saves time and makes everyday use noticeably more pleasant.
Odor development
As with all composting toilets, odor development depends on the correct use of bedding material and emptying, but the WandaGO models particularly stand out in this respect.
Thanks to the so-called TROBOLO SafeShell System, the urine canister is reliably protected against odors and leaks. Even with longer emptying intervals, we could not detect any unpleasant smells. The system also prevents leaking during movement while driving, which we consider a major plus for mobile use. The system works reliably and neutralizes odors efficiently.
The solid waste container also remains largely odor-free through regular use of bedding material. After each use, material should be added to the waste to bind odors and dry the contents. Under normal conditions, the solid waste container can be used for 5 to 10 days this way. However, at high temperatures the manufacturer recommends more frequent emptying. A small point deduction is due to the fact that the lid of the solid waste container merely rests on top and therefore cannot be closed airtight for transport.
Value for money
At a price of 179 €, the TROBOLO WandaGO offers, in our view, a very fair overall package. The toilet is compact, mobile, hygienic, and offers additional features through the SafeShell System and the stacking function that are not a given in this price range.
The WandaGO Lite is priced at 159 € and targets users who particularly prioritize weight, minimalism, and simple handling. Despite the lower price, it impresses with the same material quality, the SafeShell System, and immediate readiness for use. It lacks the stacking function, but in return you get one of the lightest full-featured composting toilets on the market.
We would like to give a small deduction in points, as accessories such as the necessary bedding material must be purchased separately. However, a roll of inlays made from recycled plastic is included at the start, which in turn balances things out for us. In summary, though, we can say that the value for money remains convincing overall, for both models.
Our conclusion
For us, the TROBOLO WandaGO is one of the most convincing portable composting toilets in the market. It combines well-thought-out functionality with high practical suitability, scoring points for its sturdy construction, low weight, and clever details like the variable seat height. The stacking function is not only innovative but also absolutely stable, which we by no means consider a given for mobile use.
The WandaGO Lite is the ideal complement for anyone who wants an ultra-lightweight, uncomplicated model without giving up hygiene, odor protection, or weather resistance. Its minimalist design, low weight, and attractive price make it an excellent choice, especially for cramped spaces.
Particularly worth highlighting is the patented SafeShell system, which reliably protects the urine canister from odors and leaks, a genuine unique selling point that makes a noticeable difference in practice. The external fill-level indicator also contributes to user-friendly handling and shows how well thought out the concept is.
Add to that the high material quality: the weatherproof polypropylene withstands even adverse conditions, cleaning is straightforward, and the overall build feels durable and sturdy.
Overall, both models deliver everything you could wish for from a portable composting toilet. Anyone looking for a compact, clean, and hassle-free solution for on the road is well taken care of with either the WandaGO or the WandaGO Lite from TROBOLO.
